Stamps Students Animate for 56th Ann Arbor Film Festival
During the Fall 2017 term, students in Professor Heidi Kumao’s Experimental Animation class created animations to advertise the 56th Ann Arbor Film Festival (March 20-25, 2018).
According to Professor Kumao, students used a multi-draft process to create visually arresting, brand-compliant, thirty-second ads to reflect the values of the film fest. The ads will appear on a mobile LED advertising truck circulating the Ann Arbor area during the festival’s opening night on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. The student trailers will also appear at the top of official AAFF screenings throughout the week of the festival.
“I think this is a really cool opportunity for the students,” said Kumao. “They are getting experience working with the oldest avant-garde and experimental film festival in North America. It’s great exposure for them.”
“I was really impressed with the quality and diversity of the animated ads,” said Leslie Raymond (Stamps MFA ‘99), Executive Director of the Ann Arbor Film Festival. “AAFF values creative expression at its fullest — and Stamps students were more than ready for this challenge.”
