Audrey Bennett named University Diversity and Social Transformation Professor
On September 19, 2019, the University of Michigan Board of Regents approved the appointments of nine professors to be the inaugural recipients of University Diversity and Social Transformation Professorships, including Stamps Professor Audrey Bennett. This appointment of distinction was created to recognize senior faculty who have shown a commitment to the university’s ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion through their scholarship, teaching, or service and engagement. The professorship is considered one of the highest achievements at the university, and Bennett’s appointment recognizes her career-long commitment to DE&I and the impact of her work.
“These scholars are nationally and internationally recognized researchers,” said Provost Martin Philbert. “Their scholarship and contributions to their fields represent a level of engagement and accomplishment that U‑M is proud to support.”
