Beverly K. Brandt Writes “Must Have/ Must Read” Book
The Craftsman and The Critic: Defining Usefulness and Beauty in Arts and Crafts-Era Boston (University of Massachusetts Press, 2009), written by Beverly K. Brandt (BFA ‘73), has been selected as one of the “50 Must Have/Must Read” books on architecture and design by Canada’s International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers. The organization is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and solicited contributions to this list in honor of that occasion. A short description states: “This book places emphasis upon the Arts & Crafts Movement, stresses trans-disciplinary collaboration, an important concept in today’s practice and education while relating the quest for ‘Usefulness’ and ‘Beauty’ to timeless values, which continue to inspire architects, designers, students, and clients today.”
