In October 2019, Colleen Clark (MDes ’20) saw the publication of “Getting Ready for Adult Healthcare: Designing a Chatbot to Coach Adolescents with Special Health Needs through the Transitions of Care” an article co-authored for the Journal of Pediatric Nursing with Jeremy Beaudry (Lead Health Care Experience Designer), Alyssa Consigli (Project Director), and Keith J.Robinson MD (Director of Quality Improvement). The article offers a case study in co-designing tools to support chronically ill adolescents as they transition to adult care, a typically vulnerable and challenging time for these patients and their families. The authors represent a multi-disciplinary effort to address a well-documented national problem in the context of their specific academic medical center.
