Destini Riley: Screening at Smithsonian African American Film Fest
Undergraduate BFA student Destini Riley will screen I, Destini at the African American Film Festival on Saturday, October 27th in Washington, D.C. during the Screening Truth to Power: Using the Power of Media to Influence Social Action exchange.
“Screening Truth to Power” spotlights the first works made by an emerging generation of filmmakers who are determined to tell it like it is and aren’t afraid to make some people uncomfortable when they cut right to the heart of an issue. These student filmmakers use narrative and documentary techniques to tell stories from their unique perspectives. Armed with cameras and microphones, deploying narrative, documentary, and experimental approaches, these newcomers present the unvarnished truth about urban survival.
