Dustyn Bork selected for Mark Rothko Painting Symposium
Dustyn Bork (BFA ’99), Associate Professor of art at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas, was one of ten global artists selected for the 15th Painting Symposium and Residency at Mark Rothko Art Center in Daugavpils, Latvia, the birthplace of modern artist Mark Rothko. The symposium participants gave talks about their process, work, and influence on September 25th, to mark the 115th anniversary of the birth of the artist. Artists live and work in the fortress of Daugavpils and are tasked with creating work inspired by Rothko and the locality of Daugavpils. At the end of symposium, there is an exhibition curated from works created by the ten artists in the Mark Rothko Art Center. Two of Bork’s works will become part of the permanent collection of the Rothko art center. The exhibition opening is Friday, October 4th and will remain up through November.
