Elizabeth Youngblood Exhibits in Hamtramck

Work by Elizabeth Youngblood (BFA 1973) is on display at 9338 Campau, where a closing reception, artist’s talk, and gallery tour will take place on September 24.

From September 3 to September 24, artist Elizabeth Youngblood will use the high ceilings and expansive wall-space of 9338 Campau to create new drawings on a larger scale than her studio practice to date has allowed. The new pieces will be displayed in combination with a survey of earlier work, allowing visitors a unique opportunity to view the career trajectory of this prolific, ambitious, but remarkably restrained artist.

Youngblood is a visual artist and designer living and working In Detroit. Her works uses diverse media and subtle modulations in color, texture and materials to explore themes of time, loss and the process of thought. Youngblood is an alumna of The Stamps School of Art & Design, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and the Cranbrook Academy of Art. To see examples of Youngblood’s work see Essay’d Installment #18.
