Emilia Javanica-White: NAS Creative Community Fellow
Emilia Javanica-White (MFA ‘12) has been selected as one of 50 Creative Community Fellows through National Arts Strategies. The 9‑month program brings together a unique community of innovators committed to using arts and culture to design solutions for community problems. Led by experts and world-renowned thought leaders in social innovation, design thinking and creative placemaking fellows gain the tools, skills and networks to activate the ideas that will transform their communities.
As a Creative Community Fellow, Emilia will work on developing her project “The Artoit Art Bus,” a vehicle for transportation between Ann Arbor and Detroit in which unique art events take place. The art bus will transport groups to the opposite destination for cultural art events, in addition to offering opportunities to participate in programming on the bus itself. The Art Bus will offer a unique way to converse with communities outside of the comfort zone, while also exploring the spaces that exist in between.
