Hannah Mutz: Solo Exhibition in Los Angeles

Desiderium, a new solo exhibition of painting and video installation work by Hannah Mutz (BFA ​’22) opens at A Blank White Box Gallery in Los Angeles with a reception on March 25, 2023.

“Desiderium”, an interior space created with painting and installation, is the home of an inhabitant who dreams to venture beyond its walls, while confining themselves in this shelter. This series of work tracks my artistic journey over the past four years as I explore feeling constricted by a perceived isolation represented within a physical space, and coping by living within a daydream. Expressed in this work is a longing for something yet to be discovered, a blurry nostalgia for the past, and a sense of hollowness within the present. This collection visualizes the feeling of looking out a window at the furthest thing you can see on the horizon and wishing to be there.
