Holly Hughes Honored at NYC Gala
Holly Hughes will be honored by Performance Space 122’s annual Spring Gala on May 12, along with three other artists who were censored during the cultural wars. Hosts include Broadway Star Neil Patrick Harris and downtown favorite (and former Stamps Speaker) Justin Vivian Bond, and MacArthur Winning Choreographer, Elizabeth Streb, and will include an auction and entertainment featuring a salute to Hughes’s work as an artist and activist for freedom of expression in the arts.
Performance Space 122 is internationally know as one the most important venues for experimental performance and dance. Launched in 1980 by a group of dancers, the space and programming have continued to grow. PS 122 served as the first home for artists including Bill T Jones, Laurie Anderson, Spalding Gray, Whoopi Goldberg and continues to present cutting edge work from around the world.
