Jim Cogswell: Cultural Hybridity and Architectural Ornament
Cosmogonic Tattoos, Stamps Professor Jim Cogswell’s installation at the University of Michigan Museum of Art and the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, is the subject of an essay by Claire Zimmerman in the 2017 issue of bfo-Journal, an international, online, peer-reviewed architectural journal based in Zurich, Switzerland. The essay is titled “Queequeg’s Coffin: A conversation on Architecture and Ornament” and is in part a dialogue with the artist about the project. Claire Zimmerman is an architectural historian on the faculty at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning and in LSA’s Department of Art History. The 2017 issue of the journal is devoted to the theme of Hybrid Forms: Architectural Ornament and Intercultural Dialogues.
