Leisa Rich: ArtFields Finalist, Solo Exhibition
Leisa Rich (BFA 1982) has been named as a finalist in ArtFields, a celebration and judged art competition with over $100,00 in awards held in Lake City, South Carolina, from April 21 — 29, 2017. Her installations include a viewer-interactive wall, a cell phone-based, communal sound symphony activity, and a special weeping willow tree — straight out of a story book — to make music or whisper in. All of her projects are designed to bring people together and use their senses to be partners with her in creating.
Rich also has a solo exhibition at The Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, Louisiana, from April 6 through July 3, 2017. The show will feature a wall installation created using low-melt polyester that she has crocheted into sculptural forms, melted, and heat pressed into “sticks and stones”, as well as 3D printed sculptures that meld various fiber art processes into each.
