Leisa Rich: NYC Exhibition, Upcoming Shows
Work by Leisa Rich (BFA ‘82) is featured in the new NYC group exhibition In Her Hands, curated by Orly Cogan and Julie Peppito. This exhibition focuses on combining craft materials that define the powerful domestic history of feminine art forms, with portraits of progressive women candidates who are running in the 2018 elections, including Cynthia Nixon, Elizabeth Warren, and Maxine Waters. Leisa Rich was assigned Gwen Graham from Florida, who is running for governor in 2018.
With an exhibition that empowers both female artists and candidates in the moment of #metoo, #timesup, and #blacklivesmatter, In Her Hands is a reflection of the rise of women voices around the world that exemplifies the inclusiveness of true feminist power, and that it is most definitely, here to stay.
In Her Hands features work by Alice Beasley, Orly Cogan, Laurel Garcia Colvin, Maria De Los Angeles, Jane Waggoner Deschner, Susan Graham, Kate Kretz, Jess Larson, Diane Meyer, Marilyn Mcbrier Artus, Julie Peppito, Leisa Rich, Alicia Ross, Rebecca Siemering and Melissa Zexter.

Rich’s work will also be featured in A Glorious Requiem For Beasts and Souls, a new solo exhibition on view at Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art in Demorest, Georgia from October 11 — November 8, 2018.
This exhibition showcases recent works by the artist that whisk viewers away into a lovely floral forest, inhabited by animals, in which hybrid “humanimals” have made the real unreal and have relegated the human to partial extinction. Sumptuous “paintings” made of fabric, dyes, paint and thread, a garden installation, careening butterflies and more, delight the senses.
