Lucy Arai-Abramson Lectures at Stanford
Lucy Arai-Abramson, MFA ‘83, will present a lecture entitled, “Using Sashiko and Other Traditional Techniques in Modern Ways” at the Stanford Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University on Thursday, April 22 at 4:00PM. Lucy’s extensive work includes freelance curatorial and archive projects, published articles, lecturing and teaching sashiko, Japanese running-stitch embroidery technique; and involvement with projects such as the compilation of materials for a book about Chiura Obata’s internment camp experiences. She also participates in the United States Department of State Arts in Embassies Program and with organizations such as the Asian American Women Artists Association (AAWAA).
