From December 6 – 9, Maite Iribarren, a junior undergraduate student in both STAMPS and the College of Engineering, will present the installation Environmental Appropriation 2 as part of the RAW Pop Up Show with the Young Artist Initiative during Miami Art Week.
This collective show is about interactive art. Her piece is a contemporary approach to interacting with nature. The sculpture is mockery of man’s tendency to obsessively appropriate, control and contain natural materials with a self-serving objective. Millennials and the general public are invited to interact with this commodified natural environment she has created.
