Meghan Reynard: Art in the Urban Environment
Photo documentation of Meghan Reynard’s (MFA 2012) Apparition — a large-scale, collaborative, light-based installation — will be included in the exhibition Art of the Urban Environment, on view at Cakewalk Gallery in Baltimore from Dec. 1, 2012 — Jan. 13, 2013. The original installation was built in an abandoned building in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2011, and serves as an excellent example of artists transforming and making accessible to the public an urban space that would otherwise go unseen. For this exhibition, Cakewalk Gallery is interested in the various interpretations of used and unused space. Works included in the exhibition focus on effects of the urban environment, how man-made structures alter one’s psychological state, and how artists respond to these conditions.
