Michael Boonstra Installation at Oregon State University
Michael Boonstra (BFA ‘96) was commissioned through Oregon’s Percent for Art in Public Places Program to install a public art project at the Oregon State University Marine Studies Building in Newport, Oregon. This new work was installed earlier this summer in the Hatfield Marine Center.
Boonstra created the installation using water samples from creeks, estuaries, rivers, and ocean, and combining with ink and evaporated by wind and sun. The resulting patterns, which were photographed and magnified, are a site and time specific collaboration with the Oregon coast.
This project was administered by the Oregon Arts Commission and is dedicated to the memory Charles Robinson.
