Michael Flynn: Hands-on Science
Kids adjust powerful magnets to sculpt a pool of ferrofluid into dynamically levitating spikes in the Magnetoscope Exhibit by A&D lecturer, Michael Flynn. Now at the Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum, Michael’s exhibition is in its third week and has been extended until June 1st due to popular demand.
Ferrofluid is an engineered assemblage of nanoscale magnetic particles that are 100 times smaller than the wavelength of visible light. Although too small to be imaged with microscopes, nano-products harness surprising properties from nanoscale physics for use in our macroscale experience.
