Nick Tobier: ‘Looping Detroit’ Featured on Hyperallergic

Compiled and edited by Stamps Professor Nick Tobier, Looping Detroit: A People Mover Travelogue, is a compilation of essays, poems, and photography by Michigan-based creative practitioners. In a recent article about the book for Hyperallergic, writer Sarah Rose Sharp and Nick Tobier discussed the similarities between Detroit’s new M‑1 Rail, a light rail project initiated by Quicken Loans CEO Dan Gilbert, and the People Mover.

“The downtown to midtown corridor is already fairly well served and well resourced,” said Tobier, ​“and although I appreciate investment in any public transit, I see that the investment comes continually in the same areas, while the vast footprint of the city is continually underserved.”
