Parisa Ghaderi: Exhibition Opening, Documentary Screening June 2
Since she left, I’ve re-searched her pictures: her hands, her empty gaze, her distance, her absence.
In Waiting for the Past, on view starting June 2 at Ypsilanti Experimental Space, artist Parisa Ghaderi (MFA 2014) and EMU Professor of Political Science Ebrahim Soltani — both from Iran — collaborate to create a multimedia installation reflecting on their personal experiences of immigration and loss. In this exhibition, they disrupt an episode of a lost “reality” by manipulating its photographs as the only “physical evidences”.
The exhibition opens on June 2, 2017, from 6 – 9 pm – coinciding with First Fridays and Ypsi Pride — at YES (Ypsilanti Experimental Space). The opening will be followed by a screening of one way, Ghaderi’s new short documentary, as part of the Cinetopia Film Festival.
