Rachel Goldsmith Recognized for Work With a 3D-Printing Pen
Rachel Goldsmith (BFA 2003) will debut a show called “Tracks” on Dec. 2 at Matted LIC Gallery in Long Island City, Queens, according to gallery owner Donna Drimer. The Brooklyn-based, classically trained artist has achieved notoriety and critical acclaim for her cutting edge work using the innovative 3DoodlerTM pen, which allows her to realize works in a myriad of colors in three dimensions, instantaneously. She is recognized internationally as the première artist exploring this new three-dimensional creative medium.
Ms. Goldsmith skyrocketed to attention in the New York arts community for her 3DoodlerTM crafted lamp recently on display at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) Design Store, as well as her inclusion in the Faberge “Big Egg” Hunt, an outdoor art installation spanning the City.
“I use pens, paintbrushes and the 3DoodlerTM as tools to record the repetitive movement of my hands. It’s a mind-clearing practice that yields intricate, multimedia art,” Ms. Goldsmith says.
Matted LIC gallery is located at 46 – 36 Vernon Blvd., Long Island City, NY. It can be reached easily via public transportation, located only one subway stop from Grand Central Station and a few blocks from the Vernon Jackson stop on the 7 train; it is only a short walk from the E train stop at Court Square.
