Roland Graf: Internet of Shoes Patent Issued
Stamps Associate Professor Roland Graf received a US utility patent (US 10,433,394) related to his Internet of Shoes (IoS) research and project collaboration with embedded systems research at the University of Michigan. The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued the patent on Oct 1, 2019.
Internet of Shoes is a sensory networking device and method for street-level interactions. With these networking devices, pedestrians can perform collective actions on the street using interactive LED shoelaces and other wearables that communicate with each other in a wireless mesh network. With this project, Graf and his team explore how the Internet of Things can shape collective actions on the street.
