San Francisco Alumni Event
June 18, 2009: A&D alumni residing in the San Francisco area are invited to attend a private, guided tour of Lords of the Samurai, a new exhibit featuring paintings, calligraphy, armor, weapons, and attire originating from feudal Japan. Displaying over 160 artifacts, the exhibit takes an intimate look at the daimyo, or provincial lords of the warrior class. The event is hosted by the Northern California Alumni Regional Committee Co-chairs, Roddie Pistilli (BSDES ’54) and Bill Reuter (BFA ’80). It will begin at 6:00 pm with remarks by Forrest McGill (AM History of Art ’73, PhD History of Art ’77), Chief Curator and Wattis Curator of South and Southeast Asian Art.
The Asian Art Museum is the only venue in the U.S. to host this exhibition. A&D alums won’t want to miss the opportunity to view this extraordinary collection.
Tickets will be sold for $10 at the door. To ensure your reservation, please RSVP to Scott Creech via email (creechsc@umich.edu) or by phone (734−763−4256) no later than Wednesday, June 10.
