Sophia Brueckner at ACM SIGGRAPH Asia
Recently, Stamps Assistant Professor Sophia Brueckner exhibited and spoke about the Embodisuit, a wearable platform for embodied knowledge, at SIGGRAPH Asia in Bangkok, Thailand. The work was part of an exhibition focused on Mind-Body-Machine interaction:
“With advanced technology, machines today are capable of learning, generating thought- like patterns, supporting physical bodies, problem solving, and discovering new solutions, all while functioning either independently or collectively as part of a larger system. What does it mean when we let our minds wander in a virtual reality world? How do we render our body movements and gestures to allow machines to learn our behaviors? What happens when we trust algorithms to make decisions about what we see, hear, and feel? How can we best utilize the relationship between human and machine ‘minds and bodies’ to enhance human capabilities?”
The tenth edition of SIGGRAPH Asia showcased some of the world’s top professionals, academics and creative minds who are at the forefront of digital imaging, research, science, art, animation, gaming, interactivity, education and emerging technologies. The event is the region’s largest annual conference and exhibition oncomputer graphics and interactive techniques and is attended by 7,000 attendees from over 60 countries.
