Stamps Assistant Professor Sophia Brueckner was interviewed by Digital Village, the oldest running technology radio show in Los Angeles, about her essay “Sharing Isn’t Broadcasting” for their holiday special: listen to the full episode here.
In her essay, Bruekner writes,
“Sharing is a way of connecting with people. Sharing is supposed to be a vulnerable and empathetic action. These positive connotations are exactly why tech companies decided to use the word ‘share’. As a result, ‘sharing’ online has come to mean broadcasting monetizable content.”
