Stamps Student Work to be Featured at Ann Arbor Film Festival
Three students from the Stamps School of Art & Design and one student from the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning have been selected to have their animated work shown during the upcoming 60th Annual Ann Arbor Film Festival (AAFF) March 22 – 27, 2022.
During the Fall 2020 term, students in Stamps Professor Heidi Kumao’s Experimental Animation class created animations to promote the AAFF. Students used a multi-draft process to create visually arresting, brand-compliant, thirty-second ads to reflect the values of the film fest. Students were required to include the festival and sponsors’ logos in their projects but were given complete artistic freedom to design their 30 second spot.
The festival staff selected four winners whose trailers will play on rotation as the introduction to each program/screening. In addition, they will each receive a complimentary festival pass for their creative work. The students who will have their work showcased are:
- Maximilian Coolidge Crouthamel (Architecture, ‘22)
- Madison Grosvenor (Stamps BFA ‘23)
- Savannah Kellner (Stamps BFA ‘23)
- Olivia Ortiz (Stamps BFA ‘23)
The AAFF is the longest running avant-garde and experimental film festival in North America. The festival is returning to an in-person format and streaming online this year. Leslie Raymond (Stamps MFA ‘99), Executive Director of AAFF, celebrates the students’ work as an important contribution to this celebrated community event.
“We are thrilled to involve the Stamps students in the Ann Arbor Film Festival in a myriad of ways, including the trailers assignment,” said Raymond. “The creativity and expressive range they bring to this real world project are always super inspiring!”
