Susan Skarsgard (MFA 2004) will present a lecture on “General Motors and the American Dream” on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Cranbrook Art Museum. This is the final lecture in the Michigan Modern: Design That Shaped America Book Launch Lecture Series: Preserving Michigan Modern. Susan has worked for 15 years as a design manager at General Motors Design & Special Collections. She will present this lecture with the head archivist at General Motors Heritage Center, Christo Datani. Their lecture will present a special look at the history of the Eero Saarinen-designed, National Historic Landmark General Motors Technical Center, and the preservation of the company’s architectural and automotive history through the archives of the General Motors Heritage Center. A book signing with the editors and authors of Michigan Modern: Design That Shaped America will follow the lecture.
