Terry Braunstein: Career-Spanning Museum Exhibition
Terry Braunstein (BFA 1964) is featured in a career-spanning exhibition at the Long Beach Museum of Art. The exhibition features nearly 100 pieces of Braunstein’s work taken from various points in her roughly 40-year career. The majority of the work being featured is Braunstein’s collage work, in which she brilliantly uses a culling and clipping technique – a form receiving new appreciation in today’s digital age. Other work being featured includes assemblage sculptures, models, and photographic prints as well as copies of her original artists books.
Throughout her career, Braunstein has engaged with photography, painting, mosaic, printmaking, stone, stell, brass, public art, performance, site-specific sculpture, and video. With roots in Surrealism, European modernism, and mid-century American assemblage, Braunstein constructs congruity from separate images that can only be seen in the imagination or dreams.
The exhibition runs through February 14, 2016.
