Teshia Treuhaft: Senic Launches Controller for the Internet of Things

Berlin-based hardware and software startup Senic recently launched their first product, ​“Nuimo”: a controller for smart devices such as smart speakers, thermostats or light bulbs. The team of eight employees, including Stamps alum Teshia Treuhaft (BFA 2012), has shipped more than 5,000 pre-ordered devices to over 70 countries after the completion of a successful crowdfunding campaign in May 2015. All Senic products are designed, manufactured, and assembled entirely in Germany.

Designed to replace traditional ​‘graphical user interfaces’ or GUIs, Nuimo is meant to give users access and control to their smart home devices without the hassle of digging through many applications on a smartphone. To date, Nuimo has won numerous design and technology awards, including the German Design Award 2016 and the prestigious Red Dot Award. 

Senic is looking to build the future of interfaces for the smart home and office and uncover new ways to access technology by exploring different interfaces including haptics, gesture, speech and more.
