Translated Cities: Emily Orzech Exhibits at the Beijing American Center
On September 29th, Emily Orzech (MFA 2011) gave an artist’s talk as part of the opening for her show Translated Cities, held at the Beijing American Center in Chaoyang District, Beijing. The show runs through November 6th and was organized with the support of the US Embassy in Beijing.
Translated Cities investigates China’s rapid urbanization through lithography, drawing and mixed-media painting. The majority of Orzech’s work stems from eight months spent living in Beijing’s Chaoyang district while on a Fulbright Fellowship in affiliation with the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Works created during a month-long residency at Dapu International Art Center in Daqing, Heilongjiang province are also included in the exhibition.
