William Charland: Art Education in the Middle East
William Charland (BFA ’72, MFA ’78) has been appointed chair of an international panel of educators who this fall will visit and review the art education program at Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman. Charland served in a similar capacity two years ago as a reviewer for the art education program at Qatar University. Back home, he is completing a project in collaboration with the Detroit Institute of Arts to bring Visual Thinking Strategies to school districts through distance learning. Charland is associate professor of art at Western Michigan University.
