Am I getting lost in the entanglement of clothes or am I hiding behind them? Nevertheless, apparel is commonly used as a device of concealment to cover the insecurities of our bodies. Choosing to wear loose clothing because it takes emphasis away from the natural human body was a bad habit that I had embraced like many others. It was a subtle but harmful habit that shows how people can body shame themselves because of the fact that not all bodies are seen as beautiful by the media. A lack of representation of different body types in the media can cause people to think that certain bodies are shameful and unnatural. Thus, leading to the thought that one has to hide those elements of their body.
