Stop motion animation: paper puppets, cut-outs, found material

This animated documentary film follows the life of Julia Butterfly Hill, an environmental activist who lived in a redwood tree for over two years. From 1997 to 1999, she camped out to spare the 1500 year old tree (which Julia named Luna) from being cut down by the Pacific Lumber Company. Using recycled material (vintage national geographic magazines, life magazines, scrap paper) and natural materials (pressed plants and flowers, sticks, logs) I utilized a sustainable practice to celebrate Julia's advocacy for our planet. As a feminist and environmentalist, Julias impact is lesser known, and this film serves as a facet to spread awareness of her legacy and bring the joy of Julia Butterfly Hill to the art community.
