No Spirit For Me uses the artistic process as a site for transformative justice. Last semester I acquired the contents of my father's criminal case file from the State Attorney who prosecuted him in 2008. Set within a fictitious police evidence room, I use the labor of making to process what was left out of the State's narrative of justice. Through loom-weaving, lithography and metal-work, I appropriate the archive of police evidence to interrogate how the intersection of homophobia and misogyny contribute to the systemic failure of the criminal justice system.
