Human colonization beyond Earth is imperative to the long-term survival and evolution of our species. While we currently possess the capabilities to begin our transition towards becoming a spacefaring civilization, only a tiny fraction of humanity is actively involved in the process. The majority of people on Earth are excluded from the discussion, yet their involvement will be necessary for the establishment of self-sufficient colonies. Cosmic Artifacts sets out to examine how the novel ideas and experiences of space life interact with humans through conceptual manufactured goods and provide consumers a catalyst for conversation about the possibilities of living in space. Each object tells a story about the everyday life of a future space-oriented consumer culture from which it came from. These goods not only question our existing notions about our world and space travel but also explore the new and unique possibilities of extraterrestrial habitation.
