Branching out from Julia Kristeva's idea of "abject," I question, "What is the new definition of beauty that attracts us? Where are the boundaries between grotesque and beautiful, terror and sensation, and repugnance and affection?" I experiment with art to show the coexistence of what seems antithetical using my life as a medium. I have thalassophobia - I drown under the blueness and underwater creatures haunt me - yet the image of them mesmerizes me. The peephole on the wooden box will let one peek at a creature, a collage of surgery pictures, sunken in resin. What is beauty to you?
