Description: This course investigates the sculptural possibilities of fiber by questioning, expanding and breaking the expectations of how textiles and fiber techniques are traditionally used. Students experiment with materials and fiber practices to produce sculptural objects and are encouraged to engage both materially and conceptually with their designs. Readings, lectures, and discussions provide critical context to work made in the course.Frequency: This course is typically offered in the winter term of even-numbered years, though scheduling may vary according to future term circumstances.
