BBC Radio 4 Features New Radio Poem by Stephanie Rowden and Jennifer Metsker
After Fragment 31, an audio poem by Stamps Associate Professor Stephanie Rowden and Writing Coordinator Jennifer Metsker, aired on BBC Radio 4’s Short Cuts on November 21. The piece was commissioned for an episode titled Incantations, with stories of art and poetry coming to life. After Fragment 31 responds to the Greek lyric poet Sappho’s Fragment 31, which is translated and read on air by Anne Carson. The audio poem is a sonic meditation on unrequited love and the act of writing poetry — a creative state of longing and calling into being what isn’t there.
