Call for Artists! Design and Construct a Little Free Library

Little free library 1

The University of Michigan’s Ginsberg Center for Community Service and Learning is launching a Little Free Library as part of its larger Literacy In Action” campaign. This is a wonderful opportunity for emerging or established local artists to gain exposure around their work while contributing to the improvement of literacy in our City. Artists of all backgrounds and skill-levels are encouraged to submit proposals for the design and construction of a Little Free Library that will travel” to various locations around Ann Arbor next year.

More about the Little Library:
Little Free Libraries promote a love of reading through free book exchanges. The idea began in 2009 when Todd Bol of Hudson, Wisconsin built a model of a one-room schoolhouse as a tribute to his mother. He filled it with books and placed it on his front lawn with a sign that read Free Books.” Numerous Little Free Libraries have since popped up across the country, providing greater access to books and fostering a sense of community as citizens utilize a shared public resource.
