Gary Halby: The Art of the Ride
Photographs by Stamps Dean’s Advisory Council member Gary Halby are featured in The Art of the Ride, an exhibition opening July 9 at The Good Gallery in Kent, CT.
The Good Gallery in Kent, CT will debut a photography exhibit featuring the motorcycles and bikers that gather in Kent by award-winning artist, photographer and author Gary Halby on July 9. “The Art of the Ride” is the title of the exhibit and the latest book by Halby, which will also be on display and available for ordering.
“Back in 2012, I was in Kent on a Sunday and was intrigued by the bikes parked on Main Street. They were graphically compelling, virtual moving art, I started taking photos of them. I also got friendly with the bikers and learned about their personalities and diverse backgrounds. After two years I began compiling my library into a curated collection that became a book, which I then matched with quotes from bikers, celebrities and other diverse sources,” Halby says. “I hope people come away with an appreciation of the beauty of bikes and of the intricacies of the parts that make up these machines and how I dissected them in my photos.”
The Art of the Ride is an 11.5” X 15” hardcover book of 80 pages. Previous books by Halby include The Umbrellas of Venice, Face to Face in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Khayelitsha Township, and Cape Town, S.A.
