John Marshall and Cezanne Charles Present at MOCAD
rootoftwo, an award-winning hybrid design studio founded by Cezanne Charles and Stamps School professor John Marshall, will be speakers at The Intersection: The Science of Place, an event at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 6 pm.
The Intersection: The Science of Place was conceived by the Ford Curatorial Fellows with initial support from the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan and MSUFCU with additional support by Michigan State University’s Science Gallery Detroit. The Ford Curatorial Fellows are supported by the Ford Foundation.
Through this event, artists and designers will speak to the concept of the “here and now” as a methodology to better understand the world around us specifically in relation to place and space, such as the city of Detroit. rootoftwo will explore how artists and scientists create using research, design, and practice-driven approaches that are influenced by placemaking in an effort to find public solutions to some of the world’s pressing questions. This conversation seeks to explore the notion of city and landscape through the lens of art, science, and technology.
rootoftwo is currently based in metropolitan Detroit. They make social objects, experiences, and works for the public realm – typically at the scale of devices, furniture, small buildings, and master-plans.
