Penny Stamps Speaker Series + New Red Order Featured on Michigan Radio
The Penny Stamps Speaker Series kicked off their Fall 2020 virtual events on September 18 with a talk by New Red Order, an artist collective facilitated by three core contributors — brothers Zack and Adam Khalil, who are Ojibway and grew up in northern Michigan, and Jackson Polys, who is Tlingit from Alaska. The collective creates video and performance works that question the desire for indigeneity in dominant culture. Khalil and Polys were featured on Michigan Radio’s Stateside program on Thursday, September 17 to talk about their work and to invite non-Natives to reconsider how they relate to Indigenous cultures.
The Stamps School of Art & Design has permission from New Red Order to keep their Penny Stamps Speaker Series talk online through Friday, October 9 for community viewing. Learn more and watch.
