Roland Graf: Feldmark Table Featured
The Feldmark Table, initially designed by Stamps Associate Professor Roland Graf for the retirement party of his father in 2006, is featured in the book 50 Jahre, 50 Produkte as one of 50 products that marks the history of the German design retailer MAGAZIN.
Founded in 1971, as a small anti-mainstream store and experiment by sociology and design students, MAGAZIN is recognized today as a German brand that develops and sells resourceful, functional furniture and a range of unconventional everyday household products.
“What if you want to celebrate a party, but the right table is missing? You build it. Easy. At least if your name is Roland Graf and you spent your childhood in your grandfather’s inspiring workshop. It should be clear that, despite all the simplicity, not just any table has been created. (…) What makes FELDMARK so special besides the wild, original beauty of its material, is its minimalism and simple construction. This massive wooden table for twelve people consists only of seven planks, which are put together and held in place with four beech wood wedges. No nails, no fittings. Even its rough surface remains untamed, completely without wax, oil, or varnish. More naturalness is not possible. The wood is also sourced locally.”
