Stamps @ Home: Virtual Forum on Race, Justice, and Equity
On Friday, October 9, the Penny W. Stamps School hosted a panel of alumni and students who came together to discuss the ways in which race, justice, and equity play a role in an Art & Design education at U‑M as well as nationally within their creative fields. Topics of conversation ranged from how their experiences as people of color on U‑M’s campus shaped them, to how they are now tackling systemic issues and building a new vision for the future. Brian Banks, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor at the Stamps School facilitated the conversation, and audience members asked questions to the panelists during a Q&A section. The panelists included:
Titus Brooks Heagins (MFA ‘02), Photographer
Keesa V. Johnson (MDes ‘21), Current Stamps Graduate Candidate, Integrative Design
Beatriz Lozano (BFA ‘16), Designer, Sunday Afternoon
Destini Riley (BFA ‘21), Current Stamps Undergraduate Student, Fine Art and Video Studies
Shane Ward (BFA ‘96), Creative Director, GIII — Men’s Footwear Division, DKNY / G.H. Bass & Co.
