Nathan Byrne

Nathan Byrne works in sculpture, installation, collaborative artmaking, and time-based projects. His hybrid art practice generates a spectrum of wonder and inquiry as he investigates themes such as devotion, memorial, mysticism, reverie, revelation, and perception itself. He combines an assortment of media, to create fecund environments and enigmatic objects, which in turn, generate a heightened and transformative experience for the viewer. He is also a Co-Founder of Phosphor Project Space, an artist-run space for emerging artists, located in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Nathan Byrne has works in the Permanent Collection of Recology A.I.R. (San Francisco, Ca.) and De Anza College (Cupertino, Ca.). He received a Fellowship and Residency from Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, Vt.), and participated in additional Artist-In-Residence Programs at: Community Forge (Wilkinsburg, Pa.), Art Ark Gallery (San Jose, Ca.), and Recology A.I.R. (San Francisco, Ca.). His work has been exhibited at: Space Gallery (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Phosphor Project Space (Pittsburgh, Pa.), SF Environment EcoCenter (San Francisco, Ca.), Community Forge (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Recology A.I.R. Gallery, and Art Ark Gallery (San Jose, Ca.). Nathan holds a B.A. in Studio Art and Art History from San Francisco State University, and an MFA in Art from the U-M Stamps School of Art & Design.
