- BS, Education, Visual Arts Education K-12, Central Michigan University
Rob Larocco is an educator and advisor who brings a breadth of knowledge, skills, and experiences to his role as a Stamps undergraduate academic advisor.
Rob grew up in Michigan and attended Central Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in Visual Arts Education, K-12 and minoring in English. Later, Rob went on to earn his Master of Education in Educational Leadership at Saginaw Valley State University. He is also a first-generation college student and United States Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Marine Corps Reserves as a welder throughout most of his undergraduate career.
What Rob enjoys the most about his work with students is witnessing as they set and achieve their personal and career goals. Drawing on his own experiences as an art student and high school art teacher, as well as his experiences as an academic advisor, Rob aims to assist Stamps students as they, too, set goals for themselves, explore their interests in the arts and potential careers, and, most importantly, as they seek opportunities and experiences to learn more about who they are, who they want to be, and the many ways they might impact the lives of those around them for the better. In addition to working with his assigned cohort of Stamps students, Rob supervises Stamps peer advisors and advises students pursuing the Minor in Art & Design.
Outside of work, Rob loves to read (sci-fi/fantasy), watch all things Marvel, cook, travel, exercise, spend time with his husband, Nick, and their dog, Astrid, watch Michigan volleyball, and spend time with friends and family. And when there is time, he also still enjoys sketching and starting up the occasional, overly-ambitious project, or creating for family and friends.
