Artificial Artist is an interactive animated short film exploring the complex relationship between the Human artist and the AI artist. AI systems have become commonplace collaborators in many industries, yet fear of replacement tends to be the ubiquitous attitude towards AI. Particularly for artists, as the trend of AI generated imagery has caught on. Generally, we take AI’s
abilities and bring them into our physical universe in the context of the human realm. But what if we could interact with AI in its own, digital universe?
Throughout the experience, the audience is invited to navigate through a philosophical conversation that was previously executed between myself and
Open AI’s AI ChatBot. The conversation surrounds the relationship between the Human artist and the AI artist where each piece of the conversation is
accompanied by an animated short which features a human character and a personified AI being. Surrounding the two are imagined spaces meant to mimic
the stylistic elements of AI generated imagery. Layered over my own animation are short snippets of AI generated animation that increase the level of collaboration between myself and AI.
