Okyoung Noh exhibits at Ann Arbor Art Center
Work by Okyoung Noh (MFA ’24) is featured in We are here because you were there, a new exhibition opening at the Ann Arbor Art Center with a reception on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 6 – 8 p.m.
The exhibition explores the socio-political and cultural impact of post-colonial migration on the Asian American / Asian diaspora.
Borrowing its title from A. Sivanandan’s famous aphorism, the artists from across the Asian American / Asian diaspora featured in this exhibit narrate a process of understanding of how they reclaim or interpret their lived histories within this post-colonial framework. Questioning hegemony, dualism, and difference through subversion, conscious observation, and humor, this exhibit challenges the spectator to reflect on these inquiries via these distinct voices.
The exhibition is curated by Chien-An Yuan and supported by the Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission.
