Ali Shapiro’s essays, comics, and poems have appeared in a variety of print and online journals. She is the recipient of a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, scholarships from the Fine Arts Work Center and the Vermont Studio Center, the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Prize, the Best of the Net Prize, and Electric Literature’s Critical Hit award, among other honors. She is a graduate of the MFA program in poetry at the University of Michigan, where she received Hopwood Awards in poetry and fiction. Also at the U of M, she is a recipient of the Ben Prize for Outstanding Teaching of Writing.
